Starting September 1, 2007, your total STAP usage and balance will be reported in STARS, the Stanford Training and Registration System in Axess. This balance includes the Continuing Studies Program courses, Information Technology Services (ITS) courses, Health Improvement Program (HIP) courses, and all classes taken from external training providers. • How do I find out what courses are available through Learning and Development?

    Training Opportunities Guide

  • How do I register for professional development classes offered by L&D?
    You can register in STARS.

  • How do I find out which Learning and Development courses are free and which ones have a registration fee?
Most L&D courses are offered at no charge to staff.  To see if a course does have a fee, go to the course listing information and see the Training Opportunities Guide.
  • How can I schedule a course just for my department?
If you see a course listed in the Learning and Development section of the course listings that you think you would like to have conducted for your department call or email us at kchrestman@stanford.edu and we can help you contact the instructor. Because the majority of our courses are conducted by external instructors/vendors your department will need to contract with and pay the instructor for the course.

  • How do I find out about courses not currently available for registration but under consideration for next quarter?
Courses under consideration for dates beyond the current quarter can be viewed by going to the following link. These courses are not available for registration at this time.

Sign-up for Course Info.

If you would like to receive information about upcoming L&D courses and special communication about classes not advertised in the TOG you can sign-up for automatic email messages by linking to any of the following distribution lists. You can also delete your name from the lists at any time.
