New Employee Orientations
These courses are designed to successfully launch new employees at Stanford.

 

TOD-0100

Stanford’s employee orientation program (referred to as SU 101) is for newly hired regular or academic staff members. New staff will receive a broad overview of Stanford’s history, mission, personnel policies, and the variety of resources, services, and training opportunities available to them. This class will also provide information on university ID cards, transportation options, health and safety, and health and retirement plan choices and critical deadlines. Breakfast and lunch provided.

TOD-0130

Whether you are new to Stanford in a supervisory role or a longer-term Stanford employee who is new to a supervisory role, this class is fundamental. It focuses on key principles, policies, and practices in Stanford supervision. The presenters are senior staff from Human Resources and Environmental Health and Safety.

This class reviews the cycle of performance management and communication, developing and using a strategy for performance planning, communicating with employees about performance, and assessing and evaluating employee performance.

TOD-0201

All new, nonsupervisory staff are expected to attend a briefing on the university’s sexual harassment policy and our resources for addressing concerns. Newly hired supervisors and faculty, although welcome at this briefing, are expected to participate in separate mandatory sexual harassment training. This 90 minute Sexual Harassment Briefing for staff does NOT meet AB 1825 mandated requirement.

This training is mandated by California State Law AB1825. Mandatory training is for: Faculty or supervisors who direct or evaluate work of one or more employees or students. This includes TA’s, RA’s, casuals and temps. Med Center-line faculty and clinician educators are also required to be trained. Learn how to prevent and recognize harassment and discrimination, handle complaints, and avoid retaliation in workplace situations. Understand Stanford’s sexual harassment policy, resources and legal requirements.
