Our Courses

Stanford employees work in an environment that highly values continuous learning and growth. Learning & Development provides a variety of courses to assist managers, supervisors and employees to build skills to enhance job effectiveness and promote career growth.  We recognize that you want a choice in the way you access your learning and development experiences so we provide both

Our courses are open to regular University employees. Stanford Hospital employees may take courses on a space-available basis.  The minimum class enrollment is 14 (except where stated otherwise). Classes that lack the minimum number of registrants one week prior to schedule will be cancel and registrants notified. These courses are offered specifically for Stanford’s administrative associates (A1–A5). The courses assist with issues and challenges faced by administrative support staff. Listings under the other L&D  categories are also open to administrative associates as well as to the broader Stanford staff  population. Courses.

The Career Management Program for Stanford Staff (COMPASS) courses are designed to help all Stanford staff manage their career process, development, and path, as well as to grow and thrive in their current positions. Be sure to explore the new COMPASS service, Career Counseling Network (CCN), a network of local career counselors with whom staff can work independently, using their STAP funds to pay for the discounted individual sessions. These courses assist Stanford staff in improving communication skills such as listening, giving and receiving feedback, dealing with challenging situations and people, and influencing others. Courses.

These classes offer training on tools to help staff receive and deliver information and training in a digital format at their desktop, live or recorded.  Courses.

Get started at Stanford with general and specific orientations. These information-filled sessions will show you how to find what you need to know about your employment and your specific job at Stanford. They will also introduce many resources -- people, offices, print and web information -- where you can go to get questions answered readily. You’ll get acquainted with other new staff with interests similar to yours in these “jump starts” to your Stanford career. Courses.

A new STARS & TOG category listing courses offered by Learning & Development in collaboration with the Office of Staff Employment. Courses are geared towards staff involved in the hiring process (i.e. a manager hiring a new employee, HRM involved in recruiting, or an administrative associate recruiting  student workers). This group of offerings, including workshops and seminars, is intended to support the development
of the key competencies and components critical to your success as a manager and leader at  Stanford today.  Courses.

These courses are geared to staff who are currently in the role of supervisor or manager; however,  they are open to any staff member who is interested in learning supervisory skills for future  professional development.  Courses.
