Creating a Culture of Collaboration
Dr. Frank Flynn, Associate Professor of Organizational Behavior,
Stanford Graduate School of Business
Business scholars and practitioners agree that employee cooperation is key to organizational success. Dr. Flynn suggests principles of fostering cooperation, relying on some exemplary cases to anchor the conversation. Participants will complete a powerful group exercise --the "Reciprocity Ring" -- which helps explain the dynamics of cooperation and empowers us to build lasting, collegial relationships.
Professor Francis (Frank) Flynn received his Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from the University of California, Berkeley. From 2000-2006, he served as an Assistant and Associate Professor at Columbia Business School; joining the Stanford Graduate School of Business in September 2006. A winner of multiple teaching awards, Professor Flynn’s courses focus on leadership issues that emphasize how managers learn to navigate complex political environments and build interpersonal influence.
Professor Flynn’s research investigates issues of employee cooperation, social influence, and leadership in organizations. His recent work considers how employees develop healthy patterns of cooperation. His scholarly articles appear in more than a dozen publications that span the fields of management and social psychology. He currently serves as an Associate Editor for Administrative Science Quarterly.
Professor Flynn has worked for the Department of Commerce in the International Trade Administration, the Institute for Business and Economic Development, and the Institute for Urban and Regional Development. He has provided executive education for Cisco, Johnson & Johnson, Standard & Poor’s, Ixis Financial, LSI Logic, and M&T Bank.
