Administrative Associates Development Program


These courses are offered specifically for Stanford’s administrative associates (1A1–1A5). The courses assist with issues and challenges faced by administrative support staff. Listings under the other TOD, FIN, and ITS categories are also open to administrative associates as well as to the broader Stanford staff population.

There’s no question that skilled administrative assistants and support staff members are vital to a successful management team. In this course, productivity experts offer proven techniques to help you become a more productive, valuable, and effective member of your organization. These new skills will inspire you to greater self-confidence so you can work more independently and solve problems more easily. Here are some of the practical “how-to” skills you will learn:

  • How to organize and control multiple projects and priorities
    even when reporting to multiple bosses;
  • How to keep the office running smoothly when the boss
    is away;
  • How to delegate effectively;
  • How to communicate assertively to get the help and resources you need to get the job done;
  • How to turn stress into positive energy;
  • How to overcome personal productivity roadblocks to managing time and resources more effectively, including problem-solving and decision-making techniques.
